HIS WORKS

In 1970 researcher Cleofe Person de Mattos made publish, by the Federal Council of Culture of Brazil, a thematic catalogue of all remaining works from José Maurício. It was the first of its kind about a brazilian composer. There are related 237 compositions whose authorship had been confirmed, 11 compositions of doubtful authorship, and 172 titles of his lost works, but for which there are some historical record.

Music is ordered on it by theme, date and tone. The two recently discovered Modinhas received from Dona Cleofe, in her book José Mauricio Nunes Garcia - Biography, numbers 238 and 239, and (we) included them in a new cathegory: Secular Works (recently found) because they do not apply to the last cathegory Orchestration.

Here are the list of the chapel masterīs works that survived until present times. To make easy the research, we listed them in the same order they are in the Person de Mattos Catalogue (CPM). The works that have the symbol are already sequenced, and can be heard by clicking the mouseīs left button with the pointer above it. It is necessary to have miltimedia devices on your computer to hear them.
